Cyrelle Ornella Mefotse Saha, MD, PhD
Cyrelle is a Research Assistant at the Montfort Research Institute in Ottawa. A trained medical doctor from Cameroon, she has over six years of experience in translational and clinical research, specializing in cancer drug development, oncolytic virus therapy, and immunotherapy. She holds a Ph.D. in Medical Science from South Korea and is currently completing additional training in clinical research at Sheridan College. Cyrelle has led and coordinated numerous preclinical and clinical studies internationally. She is committed to advancing patient care through applied research, regulatory compliance, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

.%20Hypertension%20was%20the%20main%20prenatal%20pathology%20%289.1%25%29%2C%20while%20premature%20rupture%20of%20membranes%3A%20PROM%20%2835.5%25%29%20and%20eclampsia%5C%2Fpre-eclampsia%20%2818.6%25%29%20were%20the%20most%20common%20obstetrical%20pathologies.%2075.9%25%20of%20deliveries%20were%20vaginal%20with%2065.2%25%20being%20performed%20in%20our%20referral%20hospitals.%20Gestational%20age%20ranged%20from%2022%20to%2036%20weeks%2C%20with%20a%20mean%20of%2032.4%20weeks.%20Late%20preterm%20birth%20rate%20was%2053.7%25%2C%20and%20birth%20weight%20varied%20between%20590%20and%203200%20g%20with%20an%20average%20of%201747%20%5Cu00b1%20479%20g.%20The%20percentage%20of%20low%20birth%20weight%20%281500%20-%202499%20g%29%20preterm%20infants%20was%20predominant%20%2865.3%25%29%2C%20and%20the%20intrauterine%20growth%20restriction%20%28IUGR%29%20was%20estimated%20to%20be%2012.4%25.%20The%20majority%20%2896.7%25%29%20had%20pathologies%20in%20the%20neonatal%20period%2C%20the%20most%20common%20being%20neonatal%20infection%20%2886.9%25%29.%20The%20case-fatality%20rate%20was%2027.4%25%2C%20compared%20to%2072.6%25%20live%20births.%20Factors%20influencing%20mortality%20are%20risk%20of%20premature%20labour%2C%20gestational%20age%20%5Cu2264%2032%20SA%2C%20premature%20birth%20in%20hospitals%20other%20than%20our%20two%20referral%20hospitals%2C%20birth%20weight%20%5Cu2264%201500%20g%2C%20Apgar%20at%20the%2010th%20minute%2C%20late%20secondary%20anaemia%2C%20hospital%20resuscitation%2C%20oxygen%20therapy%2C%20and%20duration%20of%20hospitalization%20Conclusion%3A%20The%20incidence%20of%20prematurity%20and%20the%20mortality%20rate%20remains%20high%20in%20neonatal%20units%20in%20Cameroon.%20Adequate%20monitoring%20of%20pregnancies%20and%20management%20of%20preterm%20infants%20remains%20a%20challenge%20in%20our%20context.%22%2C%22date%22%3A%222024-06-06%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22en%22%2C%22DOI%22%3A%2210.4236%5C%2Fojped.2024.144070%22%2C%22ISSN%22%3A%22%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%5C%2F%5C%2Fwww.scirp.org%5C%2Fjournal%5C%2Fpaperinformation%3Fpaperid%3D134698%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%22LH8WXXXJ%22%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222025-07-11T14%3A37%3A57Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
